How do I get my computer to display Asian characters when running a program?

I have a Japanese program on my American computer. It runs just fine, however, all the text looks like a bunch of jumbled up roman characters. I can read some Japanese, but not if it is displayed like this x_x Can anyone help me with this problem? Thank you much, I appreciate it. [...]
